ST. JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL NAMED 2012 INDUSTRY OF THE YEAR BY THE BUCKHANNON-UPSHUR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

St. Joseph’s Hospital was honored at the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet by being named the 2012 Industry of the Year.

St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Sisters of the Pallottine Missionary Society have been dedicated to Buckhannon and the surrounding community for over 91 years.  In response to the community’s healthcare needs, the Hospital has grown from an eight-bed hospital to a 95-bed facility with ER, OR, Laboratory, Radiology, Oncology, Obstetrics and other vital services.  Its Nursing Care Facility has been named the Best in the State of West Virginia by U. S. News and World Report for the past three years.

Most recently, the hospital has added a cardiologist, urologist, internal medicine specialist, obstetrics/gynecological physician and three additional family physicians to ensure access to needed health care for the community.

Its employees, who number over 450, also give back to the community through volunteer efforts in over 50 community non-profit organizations.

The hospital provides valuable training opportunities for students from West Virginia Wesleyan and other educational institutions and offers low-cost screenings at various health fairs including the twice-yearly Buckhannon Rotary’s Blood Screenings.

In the past year alone, the hospital provided over ten million dollars of unreimbursed healthcare to the community.  They never turn anyone away, ensuring that everyone in our community receives quality healthcare.
