ST. JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL CELEBRATES 90TH ANNIVERSARY

St. Joseph's Hospital will be celebrating their 90thAnniversary this year, and the celebration began on Monday, March 28, with a reception for the hospital’s physicians, staff, Auxilians and Board of Trustees.

St. Joseph's Hospital was opened by the Sisters of the Pallottine Missionary Society on March 28, 1921.  The beautiful Barlow estate on a hilltop overlooking Buckhannon was purchased by the Catholic Diocese and transferred to the Sisters.

With the help of good friends and benefactors, it was transformed into an eight-bed hospital and convent.  Over the past 90 years, it has developed into a 95-bed facility with an emphasis on primary health care and a renewed focus on the development of selected specialty services that include Cardiology and Urology.

The hospital will be celebrating their 90thanniversary throughout the year with a variety of activities that include a birthday party for all those in Upshur County who were born in 1921.  They are asking the community to share any stories, photos or memorabilia about the hospital and the Sisters that they may have.  If you have something you would like to share, contact Lisa Wharton Turner, Vice President of Public Relations at 304-473-2138 or at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
